What started as an everyday hobby for Isac Saminathan became a passion and great love. Golfing has given him great joy and gains in personal development and professional career: he found that the game helped build his character and interpersonal skills; and it taught him to have focus and clarity of mind, which helped him make decisions more effectively.

Coming from a business background, golfing allowed Isac to get to know a client, colleague or partner. On the greens, one’s true temperament and humour are revealed, and through this rewarding, addicting and challenging game, Isac has founded both friendships and partnerships.

Since venturing into the golf tourism business in 1995, he has been the recipient of numerous industry awards. The game and business have brought him to countries around the world and to the most prestigious golf courses ever designed.

Isac’s involvement with the WAGC began with the 2012 tournament in South Africa. It was during this event that he realised what a great platform WAGC is for amateur golfers, on which they can compete on an international level and represent one’s country as a professional sportsperson would.

Isac’s experience in South Africa was the impetus, upon his return to Malaysia, to elevate the country’s amateur golf scene. Most notably, he introduced handicap flights to the competition, creating more opportunities for players of various skill levels and an exciting experience for everyone.

In 2017, Isac stepped into the role of WAGC’s President. From this leadership position, he is driving WAGC towards becoming the biggest and most prestigious amateur golf tournament in the world.
