Wild Coast Sun Resort
Just South of Port Edward, the Wild Coast Sun occupies one of the most dramatic stretches of the coastline of South Africa's Golf Coast. Wild Coast Sun is renown for it's abundance of choices for holiday visitors such as gambling, squash, tennis, volleyball, two theatres with top class entertainment featuring cabaret and sophisticated dance revues, a movie theatre, and of course golf, just to name a few.
Nestled on the edge of the Umtamvuna River and Thompson's lagoon, there is a wide array of available water sporting activities such as waterskiing, jet skiing, canoeing, and scuba diving. Visitors can also enjoy horseback riding on the unspoiled beaches surrounded by rugged hills and splendid rivers. The name "Wild Coast" will need no explanation as you savor the dramatic scenery that houses this resort.
The Wild Coast Sun Hotel has been awarded with the following awards in the past:
American Express Quality Award (1989), Winner of Fedhasa Award (1988), Best Conference Venue for the South African Pharmaceutical Industry (1999) and the Best Coastal Resort Award (2002) |
Port Shepstone Golf Course
Port Shepstone offers nine holes of parkland style play, with wooded fairways filled with indigenous trees such as the towering Mstintsi. The remaining nine holes are in links style, with wide open fairways.
Accuracy might seem of less importance, but this impression can be deceiving as the holes are in fact longer and far more exposed to the elements, namely the wind. This is illustrated by numerous wind sock flags that line many of the fairways. The area of Port Shepstone was founded in 1867 on the banks of the Umzimkulu River and is one of Southern Kwa-Zulu Natal’s most highly sought after beachside resorts. Southbroom hosts the Oribi Gorge Nature Reserve where wild antelopes, exotic birds, raptors, and even leopards can be seen.
Wild Coast Sun Country Club
Wild Coast Sun, designed by Robert Trent Jones, provides golfers with an unforgettable experience, with holes winding their way around craggy hillsides and a deep natural gorge formed by the Umtamvuna River. Wild Coast Sun's rugged beauty is a daunting challenge for professionals and amateurs alike, an exotic natural attraction for golfers of all levels.
Wild Coast Sun truly offers a memorable experience with its ocean-front location, high tees, and rich greens where the elements come into play. At the 18th hole you will shoot from an elevated tee and carry over a dam from about 150 meters.
